András Szántó is a writer, researcher, and consultant whose work spans the worlds of art, media, policy, and cultural affairs. In addition to advising the Wealth and Giving Forum, he is a member of the senior faculty of the Sotheby’s Institute of Art in New York City and Director of the NEA Arts Journalism Institute for Classical Music and Opera Writers at Columbia University. He was until 2005 the Director of the National Arts Journalism Program at Columbia, America's premier academic fellowship program and research center devoted to the advancement of cultural journalism and public debate on the arts. He has been a Visiting Scholar at New York University and a Visiting Critic at the American Academy in Rome. He has served as a consultant to leading foundations and cultural institutions in the United States and overseas.
András is co-author and editor of four books and numerous research reports, academic articles, and critical essays. His reporting and commentary have appeared in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Los Angeles Times, The American Prospect, Newsday, Interiors, Architecture, Print, I.D., The Art Newspaper, International Herald Tribune, Museum Practice, Variety, and other newspapers and periodicals.
